Mitch Tonks, award-winning chef and restaurateur in the South West, opens the first of three, new Rockfish restaurants in 2019 – the first of which will open in Exeter on 18 March. Mitch has become one of the most respected and knowledgeable seafood chefs and restaurateurs in the UK. He has a love for seafood and an insatiable desire to share his passion with others. On matters of UK fishing, sustainability and supply, his voice is one of the most erudite and credible you can get.
The 2.600 sq. ft. purpose-built Exeter restaurant, based at the heart of Exeter Quay, will seat 90 people indoors and 65 outdoors once the outdoor area is complete, and serve fresh, local and sustainable seafood. It will employ around 35 new members of staff. The two additional restaurants opening in 2019 will be in Poole and Weymouth, Dorset.
The Rockfish Group has twice been named the ‘best independent restaurant’ at the National Fish & Chip Awards. Its restaurants are located near the sea and specialise in serving fresh, local and sustainable seafood. Menus feature classic dishes, like fish and chips, as well as a daily selection of different seafoods which are landed that day.
