Something smells good

A popular fish and chip company has teamed up with a leading perfumery to create a very British signature smelly.

Tracy Donoghue, Elite’s manager at Tritton Road in Lincoln, shows off the new fragrance

The Elite Fish and Chip Company, which has shops in Lincoln, Ruskington and Sleaford, has been hard at work with local perfume company Signature to unveil Eau de Chippé, a blend of freshly caught haddock, crispy chips and traditionally brewed vinegar.
“Who can resist the smell of a traditional fish and chip shop?” asks Adrian Tweedale, the third-generation owner of this family business, which has been running for more than 40 years. “We’ve had customers telling us that the waft of fresh fish, batter and chips in the air has been tempting them into our restaurants and takeaways for years, so why not take that fragrance home with you?
“We’re confident that people will love it and we’ve even looked into scented candles that can give your home the comforting feel of a takeaway or restaurant. Who wouldn’t love to come back to the smell of battered fish?
“The phrase we’re using for the candles is Make Your Home The Plaice To Be, while for the perfume the slogan is Be The Catch of the Day.”
Adrian has had interest from several celebrities enquiring about endorsements, including Michael Fish and Rick Stein.
The fragrance is being launched at a glittering event at The Elite’s Tritton Road location, with music from Hootie and the Blowfish.
