Shellfish Association of Great Britain conference 1, 2 May – The annual occasion in the UK shellfish calendar when the “who’s who” of the industry come together to hear about the latest research, learn about management of stocks, discuss how to market shellfish effectively and, of course, network; held in the magnificent surroundings of Fishmongers’ Hall, the conference attracts world–class speakers from the UK, Europe and beyond.

Great British Food Festival 5, 6, 7 May – The gates of one of Derbyshire’s grandest Elizabethan country houses will be flung open to hungry revellers this May Day Bank Holiday as the Great British Food Festival returns to Hardwick Hall.
Institute of Fisheries Management Training Courses 8, 9, 10 May – Estuarine and Marine Fish Identification; FBA River Labs. Wareham, Dorset. This workshop features international fish taxonomic leads for the identification of fish species encountered within the estuarine and coastal waters of the UK. Foodies Festival – UK’s biggest food festival
Each year the ever-growing festival sees thousands of visitors flock from the surrounding areas to feast on a vast array of culinary activities, making it the social event of the summer; watch best Michelin-starred chefs, MasterChef winners and top, local chefs cooking live in the Chefs Theatre cooking their favourite recipes and giving you top tips.

Cromer & Sheringham Crab & Lobster Festival 19, 20 May – Fund raising event for local charities, cookery demonstrations, market stalls and live music.
8th Annual IFM Specialist Conference 23, 24 May – ‘Fisheries Management in Estuarine and Coastal Waters’ hosted by the Institute’s Estuarine and Marine Specialist Section; this year’s IFM specialist conference will focus on the management of estuarine and coastal waters in the UK and beyond.
Aquaculture UK 2018 23, 24 May – the most important aquaculture exhibition and conference held in the British Isles, the show has a big following; an important and truly international trade venue for the aquaculture industry.
Fishing News Awards 2018 24 May – This event held in Aberdeen is dedicated to shining a spotlight on achievements, expertise and innovation from within the UK and Ireland’s commercial fishing industries during 2017.
Great British Food Festival 26, 27 & 28 May – Weston Park is a 17th century, Grade I listed, country house in Staffordshire, set in more than 1,000 acres of park landscaped by Capability Brown.
Clovelly Seaweed Festival 27, 28 May – This festival celebrates the immense health and nutritional benefits of seaweed; stalls will be selling a wide-range of seaweed products and seaweed arts and crafts and live music, demonstrations, talks and walks throughout the day.
